13th May 2008 (Syndey) - Darling Harbour, QVB, Sydney Tower

Town Hall Station
Town Hall Station

The 4th day in Sydney, but this is the first time we took a train from Hurstview to city, Town hall. In order to make full use of the time in city, we have stayed up late yesterday to plan for today’s itinerary.

Itinerary

  1. Darling Harbour - Sydney Aquarium.
  2. Star City Casino
  3. Queen Victoria Building, QVB
  4. Sydney Tower and OZ-Trek

After aligning at Town Hall Station, we are like most tourist, looking lost in an unfamiliar place. Looking left and Looking right for some Sign. Until I finally give up and ask the station staff which direction is heading the Darling Harbour. On the way there we just asked the people around us for direction just to ensure we are heading the right way.

cockle bay wharf
Cockle Bay Wharf

Phew~ It take us about 15 mins to reach Darling Harbour. In Darling Harbour there are some attraction places such as the Cockle Bay Wharf, Imax Theater, Sydney Wildlife Park, Sydney Aquarium, Chinese Garden.

Sydney Aquarium
Sydney Aquarium

1st stop: Sydney Aquarium

The admission price is $29.50 for 1 adult. Luckily my aunts have some Sydney Attractions’ coupons which allow us to pay $29.50 for the prices for 2. Personally feel that the Sydney Aquarium doesn’t have much to offer as compared to Singapore Underwater World. The only thing worth seeing is the underwater aquarium where you can see the sharks and fishes roaming freely in the tank.

Star City Casino
Star City Casino

2nd Stop: Star City Casino, across the Pyrmount Bridge

Next we planned to try our luck at the Star City Casino, hoping to win some money for shopping. The casino is quite generous in a way that they give free $10 to their new customer. So we happily try our luck at the jackpot machine. I lost all of them in 30 minutes. =_=! But Jane won 2000! …..

2000 Credits which is equivalent to AUD $40. Not bad compares to my losses. :)

3rd Stop: Queen Victoria Building

Queen Victoria Building is one of the Sydney’s important Victoria shopping arcades. Most of the stores are selling branded goods and nice souvenirs. It is a MUST visit place in Sydney!

Sydney Tower

Sydney Tower: Night Scenary

OZ Trek

Last stop: Sydney Tower and OZ Trek

The last stop for today is the Sydney Tower and OZ Trek. Another MUST Attraction in Sydney ! With the bird eye view of the city and the OZ Trek movie is worth the admission fee.

12 May 2008 in Sydney - Stanwell Park and Symbio Zoo

Symbio Zoo
Near Stanwell Park: Symbio Zoo

Today we actually planned to visit the Sydney city area such as the Darling Harbour, Chinatown and Star City (Casino), however, my 5th Aunt, Auntie Jasmine, and her husband, Uncle Allen, called and wanted to bring us out for a tour. So we decided to cancel our plan and go out with them. The first place we went to is the Symbio Zoo which is located near Stanwell Park. (don’t really know where is it)

Below are some of the photo we took there

After the 2 hours tour in the zoo, Uncle Allen bring us to one of his favourite location. The Bald Hill located at Stanwell Park. It has one the best coastline sceneries Sydney and we are amazed by the spectacular view of the endless ocean line and the Princes Highway.

Maple Tree

Maple Tree

2nd Day in Sydney, it is still very cold. We need to wear our jacket or coat just to take a stroll outside the house. While strolling outside the house, we spotted a maple tree just across the road. You don’t get to see Maple Tree in Singapore, especially one that is changing colour.

we just couldn’t stop ourselves to pluck 3 leave and kept as a gift.

After a short stroll around the neighborhood, our Auntie Carolyn and Auntie Jasmine, took us to Darling Harbour (City) to attend some investment seminars that is held in Sydney Convention Centre. Too bad that is cancel due to Mother’s Day…

So we didn’t manage to go to the seminars so we walk around the Darling Harbour and get oriented with the places and road. Then we visited some of the agencies to check out the tour for Canberra and Blue Mountain. 1 thing that is different from Singapore is that there aren’t any crows here, but it is full of sea gulls. The sea gulls are not shy and they will not hesitate to snatch your food, even though you are not planning to feed them.

Weekend Market: The Rock Market

After our lunch, we went to The Rock to visit the weekend market. It is full of local gift and food, quite a good place to get some unique gift.

Royal Bontanic Garden
Royal Botanic Garden

The last stop before we call it a day is Royal Botanic Garden. It is very big, about the size of NUS campus! The park welcomes visitor to step on the grass so as a Singaporean we are well known for following the Law. soo…

The first thing we do is to visit the Quantas Service to change Jane’s return flight. 1st expense in Sydney: S$75.00… =_+!

Aunt’s Home

My aunt pick us up at 6.30am and we made our way to her lovely home. We will be staying in my Aunt’s home for 2 weeks before going to Melbourne. It is located at suburb with fresh air and beautiful scenario. The house look like a resort.
Jane’s is totally exhausted from the flight as she is busy planning games and taking photo of me. Haa. So we have to catch a 3 hours nap before going to Westfield Shopping town to get some to eat.

We get there about 3.30pm and get something to eat. Westfield is full of Asian people doing business there and we tried some food. There is one popular store,King’s Hot Bread, selling Vietnamese bread. It looks something like subway, but taste better. :)

Tomorrow we will be exploring around the city and get oriented with it.

Calculus MA1312 (5pm)

the exam I prepared the most , but is also the hardest would be MA1312, Calculus. Despite the long night and day mugging to prepare it, I still went in the examination hall without much confidence. 2 hours of paper is actually a 2 hours of brain torturing and hair pulling. Hope can pass it … Reach home at 8.15pm: 1 good thing happen on that day, is my mum cooked one of my favourite dish: Glutinous Rice. Mmm… Yummy. :D
